13 SUPER EXPENSIVE SUVS YOU’LL PROBABLY CERTAINLY NEVER OWN
These beauties are worth upwards of a million dollars each.
Starting from a measly sum just under two hundred grand, and ranging all the way up to well over two million dollars, these beautiful specimens are the kinds of cars most of us can only ever dream of touching, let alone owning. With the Rolls-Royce Cullinan now finally official, we figured we should take a look at some of the most outrageously expensive SUVs to ever grace the streets of this fair land.
These stunners combine pure aesthetics with unbelievable functionality – and even more incredible price tags. Each SUV we’ve listed here is totally unique, with its own personality to match the lucky owner’s. Some of these are designed to be driven by you, some of them are designed purely for you to be chauffeured about in.
This is a non-exhaustive list of some of the most expensive one-offs ever produced in the history of automobiles. If these don’t get you a little hot under the collar, then you really don’t like cars. Enjoy.
BENTLEY BENTAYGA – $195,000
Starting at the lower range at a jot shy of $200k is a beautiful Bentley. Who’d have thought such a lucrative brand would be slumming it down here at the cheap end? In 2018, this is the reality we face. The Bentley is actually a direct competitor to the aforementioned Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
However, this specific model, the Bentayga, is a fair way cheaper than the Rolls Royce. It does offer more power in the form of its 6.0-liter W12, which shoots out an impressive 600 horsepower along with 640 pound-feet of torque.
The top speed of this beauty is 187 miles per hour, compared to the compared 155 mph if you’re in the Rolls. Of course, you’d never dream of hitting these speeds on public roads now… There are of course a load of customization options in this Bentley, so while this kicks things off for us as the “cheap” option, you could see that price skyrocket if you started changing bits here and there.
MERCEDES-BENZ AMG G65 – $217,900
Next up is a Mercedes-Benz, with a model that would immediately be brought up in the conversation for decades whenever somebody mentioned SUVs. This boxy, unwavering style is iconic for the Mercedes brand. This bad boy weighs just under three tons and yet can still reach 60 mph in just over 5 seconds.
The Mercedes-Benz AMG G65 is also capable of off-road travel. It has a luxury interior to make you feel like you’re always enjoying a smooth ride in the fast lane, whatever the terrain. Its biturbo 6.0-liter V12 is pure performance gold, as it produces a whopping 621 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. Impressive. Yes, we agree: the G65 is still a thing of pure engineering perfection and a legend among SUVs.
BOWLER EXR-S – $225,000
The Bowler EXR-S probably looks familiar to you, and yes you guessed it: it’s based on a Land Rover. Don’t let this fool you, though, it’s still a luxury car you could only dream of owning. While its design origins sit within the Land Rover Range Rover Sport, this beaut includes a roll cage, heated mirrors, dual zone climate control, and even state of the art Bluetooth connectivity for all the modern devices you can handle.
Take a look under the hood and you’ll find an impressive supercharged 5.0-liter V8 which pumps out 550 horsepower. That’s plenty. In fact, it’s sufficient to shoot this SUV up to 60mph in a smidgen over 4 seconds. At “only” $225,000 brand new off the forecourt, this little stunner seems like a bargain. Amirite?
RHINO GX – $229,000
The Rhino GX may look like a tank on wheels but its tough exterior is all a ruse: inside you still get the deluxe interior you’d associate with a top of the range model. Open one of its huge, bank-vault doors and you’ll be stunned by the beauty of the inside of the Rhino.
This is one of the luxury SUV models that sits on a Ford platform. But again, don’t let that fool you. This is anything but ordinary. The F-450 Super Duty Chassis may not appear as luxurious as some of the other SUVs listed here, but its power is immense, clocking in with a 6.7-liter diesel V8 or 6.8-liter gasoline V10. Of course, the four-wheel drive comes as standard in this expensive automobile.
HOLLAND & HOLLAND RANGE ROVER – $244,500
Only 30 of this model were ever put on sale. Talk about exclusive. The Holland & Holland boasted a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 that produced 550 horsepower, and 502 pound-feet of torque.
Inside, the interior was stunning, with classically tasty espresso and tan leather upholstery and French walnut veneers. There is even engraved trim, and unique floor mats to every vehicle. Each of these beauties came with an executive rear seating package, and a cargo compartment that included a gun case. Yes, you read that: a genuine 100% leather gun case that could hold two guns made by Holland & Holland. If that doesn’t scream American, then nothing does.
RANGE ROVER SV COUPE – $295,995
This one clocks in at just under $300k. It’s based on the SVAutobiography Dynamic, and the SV Coupe demands a super high price for a three-door SUV.
This luxury automobile has specially made doors that are 55 inches. They allow easier entry to the rear seats and you can get out with ease too. Exactly what you’d expect from a luxury vehicle like this. Nautica wood trim combines sycamore and walnut for a timeless, classy look. Land Rover have said that no more of this model will ever be produced.
LEXANI MOTOR CARS CADILLAC ESCALADE – $320,000
Tipping over the $300k line now we have a Cadillac SUV model, for those who aren’t satisfied with the luxury a run of the mill Cadillac provides. The design of this beast is something to behold, and words hardly do it justice. It’s a totally custom model, and here’s how it’s done.
So,l there is actually a company out there who can convert you Escalade into something that could rival the power of a luxury jet, if that’s the kind of thing you’re into. Lexani Motor Cars will take your boring old Cadillac, and stuff it with so much luxury you’ll feel like you’re eating caviar for breakfast every day that you own this sexy number. There’s a 48-inch, 4k curved TV. Yes, it’s that crazy. You get black Zambrano wood, surround sound, some neat and tidy cold drink storage, retractable tables… all of this in a thing that’s designed to also, handily, get from A to B.
Not that you’ll ever actually want to get out when you get to the other end, that is. This beauty even has fiber optic lighting and 24 karat trim. Insane in the membrane.
ROLLS-ROYCE CULLINAN – $325,000
Here we are then, another $5k can buy you the already legendary The Rolls-Royce Cullinan. This is the one we talked about earlier and it’s still nowhere near the top of our featured price range. This is small fry. Still, while we’re here, we may as well tell you about the features.
This SUV is ALL about luxury interiors, with rear seating for two or three, tailgate seating, and suspension lift. Its power is provided from a familiarly impressive 6.75-liter biturbo V12 that gives you 563 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. Of course, four wheel drive comes as standard. The top speed clocks in at around 155 mph.
MERCEDES-MAYBACH G650 LANDAULET – $527,400
Now we’re talking, we’ve cracked the half a million dollar mark. The Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet is an exclusive range that justified the price tag. Only 99 of these were ever planned to be made, so we’d put our mortgage on the fact you’ve never seen one in the flesh, let alone come close to owning one.
So, with this hefty cost comes a huge amount of both leg and head room. You get heated and cooled cup holders, for Christ’s sake. This is the real deal – which, to be fair, you kinda expect for half a million big ones. Of course, there’s a privacy partition too.
This Mercedes comes with a biturbo V12 6.0-liter engine that jams out 630 horsepower and provides 737 pound-feet of torque.
MERCEDES-BENZ G63 AMG 6×6 – $544,378
Yet another Mercedes! The Germans, as usual, are stealing the car show.
The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 is one of the most well known super duper luxury cars out there in the SUV category. It has six wheels.
Let’s just repeat that so you don’t think we’re talking BS.
It has six wheels.
Yes, this ultra crazy design was put into production and this 6 by 6 – it feels weird even typing it – weighs in at 8,487 pounds. It’s equipped with a biturbo 5.5-liter V8 that delivers 536 horsepower and produces 560 pound-feet of torque. Of course, the power is delivered straight to each of the six wheels through a 7G-TRONIC automatic gearbox. And what 6 by 6 would be complete without a host of ludicrously cool off-road features?
KARLMANN KING – $2 MILLION
If you thought that last one was sweet, check out this bad boy, which will set you back a cool $2 million. Yep, two big ones.
The Karlmann King may look like an SUV that just escaped a MArvel comic strip, but nope, it’s the real deal. It sits on a Ford F-550 chassis, meaning it’s big and strong enough to carry the 13,000 pounds that this hefty number weighs. Ford do this kind of thing right, you see. With all that weight though comes a little drawback: max speed of only 87 mph. Fine for on road pursuits, of course, but a little disappointing for such a luxury production.
Inside though, nothing disappoints, it’s all prince and princess luxury. You can seat the godarm king, queen and all their friends in here too, as it can seat up to seven – yes SEVEN – passengers. Of course, there’s a retractable TV, a fridge, some pop out tables to balance your champagne flutes, and an inbuilt coffee machine. Sweet!
DARTZ PROMBRON BLACK RUSSIAN – PRICE UNKNOWN
This one’s so nice we can’t even put a price on it. We do know, however, that other similar models have sold for well upwards of a million dollars, so this should probably clock in at around the same if not twice as much. After all, this very Russian looking model boasts an 8.1-liter diesel producing 450 horsepower and a hefty 627 pound-feet of torque. It sits on 22-inch bullet-proof wheels, in case you get up to any Russian gangster activity – of course this is the kind of thing you’d use as an inconspicuous getaway car, right? Well if you do end up getting chased by gun-wielding police or other gangsters, at least it also has bulletproof windows, and super unique underbody protection.
BENTLEY DOMINATOR – PRICE UNKNOWN
Way back in 1994, Bentley made this beauty and it ended up costing them somewhere in the region of $4.6 million. It was the car manufacturer’s first ever SUV build that was made specifically for the Sultan of Brunei. We’re not making this up, he had it commissioned just for him. You know how many were made?
Only SIX.
That means each one comes in at something like $700k – but that’s if you use the prices of two and a half decades ago. Accounting for inflation, that would now make them worth… a lot. Let’s just say only God knows how much these things would fetch on the market nowadays. The Dominator is made on a classic Range Rover chassis and it actually played a big part in keeping the company out of bankruptcy at the time.
God bless you, Mr Sultan of Brunei.
